The official tree and flower of Aisai were chosen as candidates to commemorate the first anniversary of the city’s founding and became official on December 10, 2006.
The maki, which has long been planted in the hedges and gardens of Aisai’s residences, is a cherished tree well suited to our local climate. The evergreen maki possesses style and personality, and its green foliage can be enjoyed throughout all four seasons.
This tree grows straight up toward the sun, and it was chosen for the way it symbolizes our efforts to make Aisai a city overflowing in vigor and vitality.
Water gardens full of blooming lotus flowers — the same plant known across the country as the lotus root vegetable and a special product of this area — represent the city as a familiar component of its natural scenery. Many people are attracted to the area to take in the beauty of the lotus flower during its peak blooming season.
This familiar, dignified flower has been selected to represent our city so that it may be cherished even more by the residents of Aisai.
